New Year Invitation Pop-Up Purse

Hello everyone! I hope you all had a great Christmas. I have a New Years project I would like to share with you today. When I saw the images from the Strawberry Kisses stamp set, I had to think of a project where I could use the image. I chose to color the Strawberry Kisses - Party Animal Resting image using the Spectrum Noir Markers. Isn't it adorable? I love it!

I think we can all agree that girls loves shoes!  That's why I decided to use this party shoes image and cut two pieces of the Strawberry Kisses image outline and adhere them together using foam dots to create the 3D Shoe cake topper. I love how this project turned out. These stamp sets are due to be launched next week so please stay tuned!

I decided to make a  New Years Invitation Pop-Up Purse just in time for my upcoming New Year Celebration Party. I used my Ultimate Crafter's Companion Tool in scoring my purse.

I think this is a very unique way to set the tone for your New Year's Eve Party. Everyone who receives this kind of Pop-Up Invitation will have surely think it will be a fun and colorful party.

That's it my fellow Crafter's!  Thanks for stopping by and hope I inspired you with my last post for year 2011. Happy New Year 2012  everyone!

May Arts & G45 Blog Hop - Multipurpose Holiday Window Gift Box

Hi All,  I have a very festive project I would like to share with you today. May Arts and Graphic 45 have come together for a week of blog hop. Lots of inspiring projects and prizes to win!  Be sure to leave comments both on the May Arts and Graphic 45 blogs for your chance to win some great stuff!!!

Thursday Blog Hop Participants:

May Arts
Jinky Kowalski - You are here

Graphic 45

I had a blast making this Multipurpose Holiday Window Box. My inspiration is a combination of my Window Gift Box and Chocolate Tower Box from my 12 Days of Christmas Crafts E-Book

The G45 Christmas Emporium line is perfect for this project. The patterns are very unique and it helps your creativity and imagination to work. Look at the floor, the inside and outside panel, and the cupcake wrapper.  It almost looks like a real thing. And of course, May Arts ribbons adorn this Holiday Gift Box to have a finished and more presentable look. I used May Arts leaves ribbon as an accent to my front door and I also made a Ribbon Wreath to decorate the inside part of the box. It's true that,  to create beautiful projects,  you must have beautiful supplies and materials like G45 papers + May Arts Ribbons.

When you are gifting, they always say..it is all about the packaging! This ordinary cupcake looks extra-ordinary and anyone who receives such gift will feel extra special.

All sides of Multipurpose Window Gift Box

Supplies:

Double Faced Satin ( Ribbon Wreath)
Sizzix Bigz XL Die - Christmas Tree 3D
CutFile - I modified Penny Duncan Cutfile

So, after eating the Cupcake, this Christmas Gift Box can also be used as a Christmas decoration. That's why I call this project a Multipurpose Holiday Window Gift Box

Look at my floor, does that not look like a real tile? That's from G45 Christmas Emporium Paper Pack. Also my 3D Christmas Tree, it does not need so much decoration because the G45 Christmas pattern paper is enough. Love it!

Oh, let's not forget the G45 Metal Hinges I used for my side panel to allow some movements. Love it too!

I love to make 3D and Multi-Functional projects.  Thanks a lot for stopping by and hope I inspire you today!

P.S. If you like what you see and want to win some May Arts & G45 goodies, please leave comments here

P.P.S. I love to read comments too, so please don't forget to leave some LOVE! tHANKS!

Crafter's Companion USA Christmas Blog Hop

Welcome to the Crafter's Companion USA Christmas blog hop!

We are so excited to be giving away so many of Crafter's Companion's fabulous products, as well as sharing many Christmas project ideas.  If you are coming from Ann's Blog, you are in the right place.  If not, make sure you head over to Crafter’s Companion USA  over here, where the blog hop starts.

The Christmas Inspiration

The inspiration I made for this blog hop is a Hand Painted Christmas Gift Bag and Candle. I used the Ivy Stamps from the Sheena Douglas Christmas Collection. Instead of painting it with Acrylic paints, I experimented using the new Spectrum Noir Markers.  Don't you love the end result?? I love it! I enjoyed making this inspiration project. I am going to paint more candles to use as Christmas gifts. You should give it a try because these markers are amazing.

I used the Masking and Painting/Stamping on Candle techniques for my inspiration projects.

The Christmas Giveaway

We are giving away a prize on every blog, including the entire set of our new Spectrum Noir alcohol markers to one lucky winner who posts a comment on every blog. These markers are so new, that you will be receiving our first prototype of them.  That's 72 markers!

Spectrum Noir pens are alcohol ink based which have been designed specifically for crafters, but these affordable markers are also great for beginners, students and hobby artists alike.  Each pen is double-ended, with a broad chisel nib for large area fills and a fine bullet tip for detailed work.  Spectrum Noir marker pens will soon be available in 168 colour shades including a colourless blender.  The colours blend seamlessly and can be mixed or layered over each other.  These fast drying, alcohol based markers are acid-free and non-toxic, and the coloured ends of the pen allow for easy colour identification.  (Please note: The design of the pen, color names and numbers may be different than the pens that will be released in January.)  The image colour has been reproduced as accurately as possible.

I hope you were inspired by my project today and try your hand at creating your own Christmas Gift Bags and Hand Painted Candles. I am giving away the Humphrey stamps of your choice to one lucky random commenter.  Just comment before Sunday, December 11th at midnight for your chance to win.  All the winners' names will be posted at Crafter's Companion USA News blog on Tueday December 13th.  (Must be a U.S. resident to win).

PS. When leaving a comment, please mention what Humphrey Stamp you would like to have as a prize.  Please don't forget to include your email too. You can check the stamps here

Holiday Burlap Napkin Ring Tutorial

Hello every one, Here's a quick and easy project for you this holiday season. It's a Burlap Napkin Ring.
It is a very inexpensive project but it will definitely help you on your Holiday Tablescapes this season.

Since this is a super easy and inexpensive project, you easily do different rings for different occasions. Just change the color and cut-out design that will fit into your theme. Have you checked how much a napkin ring costs in a retail store lately?  They are not cheap. Why not create your own handmade Christmas Napkin Ring this season and save some dollar$ !

These are so cute, they look like cupcakes or chocolates. I made these napkin rings for our Ladies Christmas Luncheon Party next week. Our host asked me to help her on the decoration and tablescapes. She is into Nativity scenes so I thought a Star Napkin Rings will be perfect for her theme.

Please find the tutorial on how I made this DIY Napkin Rings below. Thanks for stopping by my blog and hope I inspired you today!

Christmas Lollipop Favor Box Bouquet

Hi Everyone, this is Kathy from DoubleK Krafts and I am your guest blogger today. When Jinky asked me to guest post on her blog, I am so thrilled!

Christmas Lollipop Gift Favor Bouquet

Today I am going to do my first tutorial. I hope this goes well. Any help is greatly appreciated.  Here we go (forgive the grammar).

One of my favorite things to do for the holidays is make candy. I usually make bite size pieces, and put them on a pretty plate. This year I made  the Christmas Lollipop Favor Boxes  from The Ultimate 12 Days Of Christmas Revised First Edition. They are so cute. After you eat the candy you can hang the box on the tree as an ornament.

These are my recipes. You can change them to make what you like. Share them with friends and family. Just have fun with them. My gift to you. They are very easy, it is a great way to get the children in the kitchen and make a day of it.

These are some of the ingredients :

I used. Baker's white chocolate (my local store) and Wilton's candy melts (Michael's craft store or on line).

You can use what you have available
  • Krispy Rice Candy
  • Light or dark chocolate
  •  Krispy Rice cereal ( you know snap crackle and so on)

Wilton has a great icing for drizzling over the top of the candy. I like to get the Wilton's white chocolate melts and add some food coloring, you can make all kinds of colors from one package. Just melt, put some in little bowls and add food coloring.( Food coloring will stain so you may want to make the icing yourself then let the children play).

A small lesson about chocolates
  • No water near chocolates
  • Water in the chocolate will make it turn into an unusable mess
  • You can melt it on the stove
Cooking Instructions:

Melt chocolate over a double boiler (hot-water bath), or in the microwave. I use the microwave, just make sure you start out with 30 seconds, then 10 seconds at a time, and stir until smooth.

Chocolate will burn very easily. Start out with small batches. If you do burn a batch, start over with a clean dry bowl. Chocolate will taste like what ever it is stored with, or made in. O.K. I talk to much, lol. Put the chocolate in the bowl and melt slowly.

Add the cereal, small amounts at a time, until coated.
If you like add more cereal, or more chocolate , what ever you like. That's it. So easy.

Now just spoon onto parchment paper (you can get this at your local store) or freezer paper and place on cookie sheet.

Put a lollipop stick in center,( you can get these from Michael's, Joann's, or maybe your super market will have some). You can let air dry or put in the fridge, if you have room.I put a little to much on mine so I had to cut some off to fit in the holders. The best part of that is you get to eat the mistakes.  :)
Then drizzle icing over the top.

Next do the same with the coconut.

                                                                      See how easy. And yummy!

Next White Chocolate, Nuts, And Pretzels!!
Just as easy, melt white chocolate, add Spanish peanuts (in local store), or what ever nut you like, and broken up thin pretzels.

You are making candy !!!! Having fun? Still with me?

I saved the best for last. How many of you like Turtle candy?

Recipe
Regular or dark chocolate
Soft caramels
Pecans
Taste Tester :)

These are a little different, but just as easy.

Instructions:
Place a teaspoon of chocolate on the paper.

Put a stick in the center of the caramel and flatten out.
Place on top of chocolate.
Place a small amount of chocolate on top of caramel.
Then a pecan on top of chocolate.

Cover the entire area with chocolate to seal everything in. Place in fridge to set up. That's it.  If you are like me and want more that a bite, make them bigger. this time put 4 pecans on top and cover with choclate, but this time let the feet stick out, just like a turtle.

Are you still with me? sleeping yet ? :) Have a piece of chocolate?! It's time to clean up!! :) :) You are not done yet..Remember, it is all about the packaging! You can check lots of awesome Christmas Packaging ideas on the 12 Days of Christmas Crafts Tutorial E-Book of Jinky's Crafts. Note: The candy wrapping foil can be find them here. There are 60 colors to pick from and they are sold by sheet. Pop over and check it out.

Wrap the candy, and place in the holders.
 Decorate
 DONE!

I hope you enjoyed the tutorial. Have fun making candy. Thank you for stopping by.     And Have a chocolate day! - Kathy
